Cloud computing’s bright outlook at Integer IT

Cloud, is it the future?

Many millions of dollars and many of IT’s big names say it is. But in truth that’s not the question, the question is… is it right for your business and the way it does business? And if it is right, what form should it take?

We think it should be boring and we think it should be predictable.

And so predictable that you never see a day when it doesn’t do just what you need it to do.

So when it comes to cloud services, specify high by all means, just don’t aim for excitement. At Integer IT we do all we can to make sure there isn’t any.

What is the cloud?

The term “Cloud Computing” is everywhere. In the simplest terms, Cloud Computing is a metaphor for the Internet. It refers to storing and accessing data and programs over the Internet instead of your computer’s hard drive. For it to be considered “Cloud Computing,” you need to access your data or your programs over the Internet, or at the very least, have that data synced with other information over the Web.

What Cloud Computing is not about is your hard drive. When you store data or run programs from the hard drive, that’s called local storage and computing. Everything you need is physically close to you, which means accessing your data is fast and easy, for that one computer. Working off your hard drive doesn’t allow for mobility or easy collaboration but is how the computer industry functioned for decades – until now..

At Integer IT we plan and migrate services to the cloud but also advise our clients when the cloud may not be in their best interest. With the arrival of the NBN, additional ways of protecting your data will become more practical with a faster internet connection. Speak to us soon to discuss your business requirements and what Cloud computing might mean for you.

Exchange and Office 365

Integer IT is a Microsoft Office 365 partner, and we’re helping clients to migrate from their existing on premise Exchange environment to Office 365. Businesses are looking to Microsoft Office 365 to help them with the IT challenges they currently face, such as:

  • Simplifying IT administration
  • Enhancing reliability and data protection
  • Benefitting from the latest capabilities without deploying new software
  • Managing IT costs and getting more value from investment

With Office 365, your company gains from predictable costs, guaranteed reliability, access from virtually anywhere, and the enhanced capabilities of powerful cloud-based productivity tools.

Meanwhile, you maintain control of the IT services that drive your business. We have successfully managed our clients’ critical applications on our cloud infrastructure and are fully conversant with the complexity of corporate email infrastructure.

As a Microsoft Office 365 partner, we’ll advise you on the most efficient migration strategy to suit your existing setup. We will analyse your existing IT environment and provide a high-level design and customised project plan. We’ll take care of configuring and synchronising your systems and migrating users and data to a single sign-on. You’ll have access to our Help Desk support and monitoring.

SPAM Filtering

Cybersecurity readiness should be your top business agenda.

According to a recent study by PwC, cybercrime is now Australia’s number one economic crime. In 2016 alone, ransomware attacks increased by 300% globally.

  • 91% of all cybercrime is initiated by ‘zero-day’ email attacks
  • 97% of people can’t identify a criminal-intent email
  • 25% of people click on email messages containing malicious content

Why we are offering email and web security solutions to our customers?
There are a number of good reasons however one of the main reasons is that Microsoft altered their spam filters in November 2016 we and our clients have seen a massive increase in SPAM activity since then, here is what Microsoft announced.

Microsoft announced the following on November 1, 2016,
Microsoft stopped producing spam definition updates for the SmartScreen filters in Exchange and Outlook. The existing SmartScreen spam definitions will be left in place, but their effectiveness will likely degrade over time.

This announcement impacts on premises Exchange environments and those clients who have Small Business Server installations. The filters remain supported in any Microsoft hosted platform although not all clients wish to move their emailed to the cloud and an Office 365 Mailbox

Integer IT is pleased to partner with global cybersecurity innovator MailGuard. MailGuard’s proprietary AI threat-detection engines predict and stop fast-breaking email threats in real-time. Seamlessly stackable with Office 365 and other email platforms, MailGuard provides an added layer of specialized email security to reduce the impact of cybercrime on your business.

  • Reactive by nature, traditional antivirus security solutions rely on the deployment of antivirus signatures, leaving a window of vulnerability from hours to days before fast-breaking email threats are stopped.
  • With advanced AI (artificially intelligent) threat-detection engines, MailGuard is uniquely positioned to block emerging threats before they reach your network perimeter.
  • MailGuard applies immediate protection to thousands of businesses worldwide, stopping fast-breaking email threats between 2-48 hours ahead of the rest of the market. This difference is critical in today’s environment of large-scale cyber breaches, where every minute of exposure is a palpable risk to business operations and credibility.
