The Company

Mid Coast Automotive Group is an award winning dealer in the Mid North Coast district of NSW. They are a family owned and operated dealership in Taree, with over 30 years’ experience in the motor industry.

They proudly represent the latest range of Ford, Isuzu UTE, Kia, Nissan and used vehicles from their Taree showrooms. The service centre is staffed by factory trained technicians and utilizes the most modern technology available to ensure years of trouble-free motoring.

The Brief

Mid Coast Automotive required a replacement of an aging Samsung OfficeServ Telephony system as part of a planned expansion of their show room facilities and the enablement of NBN technology for both data and voice circuits.

Our Approach

Integer IT reviewed the physical site location to recommend a new resilient cabling infrastructure to support an IP based telephony system in the existing premises and to incorporate POE connectivity to the newly built showroom.

Initially we installed data cabling to the new premises and cable tested all existing extensions before installing a new Panasonic KX-NS700 Hybrid IP Telephone system.

Initially this physically sat alongside the Samsung OfficeServ unit which was soon to be decommissioned with the switch over from ISDN data connectivity to SIP.  All phone system configurations of extensions, mailboxes, users and messaging were all preinstalled.

We organised a specific cut over time and date to port the phone number range from ISDN to NBN to minimise potential downtime. At the chosen hour, we successfully flipped from ISDN over to the Panasonic NS700 and newly provisioned Commander NBN voice circuits.  To complete the service, we decommissioned all the Samsung telephony equipment and removed from site.

The Benefits

Mid Coast Automotive now have a supportable feature rich Panasonic IP Telephony system that can be fully managed with remote support access. With PSTN and ISDN lines coming end of life it was imperative to move the business from old technology to NBN delivered SIP with significant cost savings associated with the move.

The Outcome

Mario Tomlin, Dealer Principal:

Integer IT understood our requirement and a prepared our site in advance of the telephony refresh. The transition from the old to the new was seamless and they informed us at every stage along the way. As the Principle I haven’t heard of any complaints from staff or issues – so the transition was a major success.

Garry at Integer IT :

Moving from one data carrier and technology to a new NBN provider can sometimes be tricky as we are relying on external 3rd parties to complete their work in a timely fashion. Our telephony engineers were professionally engaged at all levels in the planning and then project managing of the whole replacement of the telephone system and data switchover. This team approach is how we like to operate.
