The Company

Port Macquarie Cardiology is a leader in specialised cardiology care. Their experienced Cardiologists offer a broad range of cardiac care including diagnostic and interventional cardiology services.

Port Macquarie Cardiology uses state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to perform non-invasive testing procedures at the practice and provide the most comprehensive cardiology care in our region.

The Brief

Port Cardiology has grown considerably since Integer first supported the business and was a scheduled on site maintained client for several years. Integer supported a range of IT and medical orientated databases and specialised equipment with an onsite engineering visit every week.

After a review of the environment with senior management it was agreed that the weekly visits had become unproductive and more efficient ways of delivering critical updates and support were more favorable.

Our Approach

The Integer helpdesk support agent was already installed across the IT estate as part of the existing service and was auditing the location.

Integer’s audit scoped out the whole environment providing detailed audit information of hardware age, operating systems installed and application software. We implemented a Proactive Managed Service for both the server and desktop environments as well as managing the onsite Network Attached Storage (NAS) and incremental back up software.

A Cloud Base Spam filter was activated to prevent unsolicited email and potential threats consuming time and network traffic.

Finally, we scheduled remote out of business hours patching and critical updates for server and desktop environment, thus saving valuable employee down time on site.

The Benefits

Port Cardiology now have a firm understanding of their IT infrastructure and can budget not only for IT Support at consistent levels but also predict when items need replacing as part of lifecycle management and annual budget planning.

Proactive alerting of potential issues are diffused prior to becoming critical without employees being interrupted during their busy day, whilst scheduled out of hours updates no longer impact daily tasks.

Spam emails arriving in mailboxes have ceased and those carrying malicious payloads do not arrive on the network to be opened accidently by employees.

A installed NAS devices has created incremental back up plans for both the physical and virtual servers, all aimed of reducing human intervention and more importantly reducing the real time recovery objective to as little time as possible.

Integer now work with Port Cardiology proactively to further iron out IT inefficiencies as part of continuous improvement and to promote best practice
